What is this?
These are my time-servers that I have under my control, they are run at several locations, and their purpose is to support:
- Ham radio, primary target to keep machines on time, very accurate
- To support the ntppool, but at the lowest level.
The meaning is not to provide BIG timeservers, there are other that do this.
The load is minimal, you hardly won't notice it's running.
Here are my timeservers....and it's a pool: https://www.ntppool.org/a/bas
All those servers run at: ntp.heppen.be
If you want to join, you need a static-ip and unlimited traffic.
GPS+PPS systems run stratum 1, as close as you can get to the atomic-clock as possible. Often a few NANO-seconds precise.
Then we have stratum 2 servers that get time from Stratum 1 servers. These servers have the same precission, but tiny bit less accurate. Still they are within a few hundred nano-seconds.
That is why I have a pool, not to overload the GPS-servers.
The more we have the better. And they are targeted at HAM-radio-use, e.g. sync FT8, JT65 etc.
As most of us run websdr, and static IP....keeping your system on time at the same time is a bonus ;D
