Title: [RX888 mk II] Thermal modifications
Post by: hb3xdc on Sep 03, 2024, 07:37 PM
Hi Bas,

Hope you are doing well, I just got two other RX888 for SDR Projects and wanted to check, whether I must modify them to not overheating, as my first does not get any hot I'm not sure, what I have to look for

Maybe this would be interesting also for others so that the sdrs don't die.d

The most important is the USB controller, made by infineon, it can get hot. Open it and check for the thermal pad. Depends on where you purchase it. Maybe someone else can post a image of how the thermal pad looks, should be on the back side of the PCB.

Looks like both of my the new RX888 do have thermal pad, but unfortunately one of them seems to be a DOA. Does not give any useful Signals, only Pink Waterfall, after several reconnect, it worked for some h but then it crashed the whole operating system
